Harlan Russell Hackett of Grays Chapel , age 91, passed away on October 1, 2011 at Graybrier Nursing Home in Archdale..
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grays Chapel United Methodist Church , 5056 NC 22 N, Franklinville, NC, with Reverend Doug Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Mr. Hackett was born in Randolph County on March 12, 1920. He was retired from Klopman Mills, Asheboro Plant and was a dairy farmer. Harlan was caretaker of the Grays Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery and also served on the committee of the Veterans Memorial at the cemetery. He was a member of Grays Chapel United Methodist Church and was member of the Grays Chapel Lions Club. Mr. Hackett was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves, UNC-Chapel Hill Basketball and NASCAR.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Johnsie Davis Hackett, son, Terry Davis Hackett, grandson, Shane Davis Hackett, father, John Thomas Hackett, mother , Emma Dunn Hackett and brothers, Wesley ,Kelley, Jesse, George, Cleston, John-Clarence and Troy Hackett.
He is survived by his son, Russell Hackett and wife, Valastra of Randleman, daughter, Sylvia Cook and husband, Brad of Bastrop, Texas, grandchildren, Deedee Kern, Darren Hackett, Amy Gunther and Kristopher Hackett, great grandchildren, Justin Smith, Preston Hackett, Nathan Hackett, Victoria Hackett, Isabelle Hackett, Alessandra Hackett and Fynn Gunther.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 from 6-8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Av., Asheboro.
