Guy Paxton McMurray

Guy P. McMurray, age 93, of Asheboro died Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Randolph Hospice House. Mr. McMurray was born in Chicago in 1921. He enlisted in the US Army in 1942 and served in both WWII and Korea, receiving multiple decorations including the Silver and Bronze Stars and Purple Heart. He enlisted as a PFC and after 22 years of service, retired as a Lt. Colonel. Mr. McMurray played tennis, raced sports cars and enjoyed skeet and trap shooting. He is survived by his wife, Joan M. McMurray. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. A committal service will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Salisbury National Cemetery. in lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O.
