John Gray Cashatt, age 92, of Randleman joined his heavenly father on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Clapp's Nursing Center, Inc., Pleasant Garden.
Mr. Cashatt was born December 26, 1922 the son of John Addison and Julia Summey Cashatt.
Mr. Cashatt was a native of Randleman and was a member of First Wesleyan Church. He was a 1940 graduate of Randleman High School. He served in the U. S. Army, was a veteran of WW II and one of the last of the greatest generation. Mr. Cashatt retired from Union Carbide and then started Gray Cashatt Realty. He was a loving father and grandfather who taught his children and grandchildren to hunt, fish and drive at an early age. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Evola Wilkerson and brothers, Ray and Harold Cashatt.
He is survived by his wife: Carolyn Davis Cashatt, one daughter: Sherry Cashatt Hinshaw Fonner and husband Bill of Randleman, NC; two sons: Ronnie Gray Cashatt of Level Cross, NC; Gary Lee Cashatt of Bennett, NC; sister: Jane Cashatt Price of Asheboro, NC; step-daughter: Cynthia Edwards Denny and husband Steve of Sophia, NC; grandchildren: Misty Hinshaw, David Hinshaw III, Steve Denny II and wife Rebecca, Nina Denny Carowick and husband Tom, Matthew Cashatt and wife Jessica, Zachary Gray Cashatt, Andrea Cashatt, step grandson: Pastor Tim Fonner; great grandchildren: Gray Holt Braica, Carly Hinshaw, Madi Cashatt, Isaac Denny, Micah Denny, and Thad Denny, one step great grandson: Chris Fonner.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 12, 2015 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 at First Wesleyan Church, 125 Tabernacle St., Randleman with Rev. Don Hurlburt, Rev. Al Newcombe and Pastor Tim Fonner officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Clapps Nursing Center of Pleasant Garden and the ones who helped at his home for the kind and gentle care given to Gray over the past months.
