Mrs. Hunsucker previously resided in Asheboro. She retired as a supervisor at Randolph Apparel and had also worked many years for Stedman Mfg. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Hester Lyndon, two husbands, Burgess Scott and Rev. Robert Hunsucker, and two brothers, Walter Lyndon (Dub) and Jack Lyndon. She was the oldest surviving member of the First Wesleyan Church in Asheboro.
When Grace's first husband, Burgess Scott, was living they lived on a farm in the Jackson Creek area. He loved farming and they worked hard together. After Burgess became disabled she took over much of the work along with her regular job. She never complained about how hard she had to work. Shortly before his death they moved back to their home in Asheboro, the one he built for his family in the late 1940s.
After her retirement from public work she enjoyed spending time in her flowers and making baby quilts. Many babies in Asheboro and the surrounding area have been fortunate to own one of her quilts. It would be impossible to know how many she made. She also was known for her delicious fried apples pies and her chocolate pies
She is survived by three sons, David Scott and wife, Nell, of Hillsville, VA., Jim Scott and wife, Anita, of Welcome, and Bill Scott of Lexington; three daughters, Dorothy Key and Joanne Morgan and husband, Ron, of Asheboro, Linda Mann and husband, Ron, of Asheville; two step-sons, Richard and Michael Hunsucker of Asheboro; one sister: Mary Watts of Walnut Cove, NC; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Abbott's Creek for the excellent care given her since last September. Also, she was blessed to have two wonderful caregivers, Aquila Brink and Gail Deaton, before going to Abbott's Creek.
Memorials may be made to the First Wesleyan Church, Post Office Box.338, Asheboro, NC 27204.
