Gloria Kimes Jones Evans, age 77, of Asheboro died Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Randolph Hospice House.
Mrs. Evans was born June 10, 1937 in Randolph County to Clarence Redding and Lena Wincie Buie Kimes. She was a 1955 graduate of Franklinville High School. Mrs. Evans was employed as a secretary at Acme-McCrary Corporation for 20 years and as secretary of Central United Methodist Church for 20 years. After her marriage to Richard, she worked by his side at Evans Music Center for 15 years. She was an active, life-time member of Franklinville United Methodist Church serving as choir director, pianist and worship committee chairperson. Mrs. Evans was a faithful member of UMW and was a former member of the Alleluia Singers. She loved the Lord by taking care of everyone else. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her first husband, Philip Wiley Jones and daughter, Jennifer Jarrett.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Evans; daughter, Julie Langdon and husband Sam of Asheboro; son, Evan Jones and wife Jennifer of Asheboro; grandchildren, Cloie and Caroline Langdon of Asheboro, Ben and Hudson Jarrett of Raleigh, Wiley Jones of Asheboro; brothers, Frederick Kimes and wife Martha of Concord, Douglas Kimes and wife Dianne of Asheboro; step-children, Douglas Evans of Cary, Allison Evans of Wilmington.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Franklinville United Methodist Church, 227 W. Main St., Franklinville with Rev. J. Harold Hammond and Rev. David Christy officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
