Glenda Deaton Barker

Glenda Deaton Barker, age 75, of Mt Gilead died Thursday, October 30, 2014 at her son's home. Mrs. Barker was born in Thomasville on May 19, 1939 to Ira and Lottie Deaton. Glenda was a homemaker and loved the beach. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Wade D. Barker; five children, Yogi D. Barker and wife Annette of Asheboro, Matthew W. Barker and wife Jennifer of Franklinville, Tonya B. Bowers and husband Michael of Asheboro, Kyle S. Barker of Mt. Gilead, and Kevin F. Barker and Linda of Asheboro; grandchildren, Gindy B. Beane and husband Michael, Eric M. Bowers, Mara Barker, Ethan Barker; great grandchild, Cameron Beane; sisters, Beverly Hoover and husband Edgar of Asheboro, Myra Smith and husband Danny of Denton, and Darcus Bisher and husband Max of Denton. Funeral service will be held Monday, November 3, 2014 at 3:00 pm at West Asheboro Baptist Church, 831 Uwharrie St., Asheboro officiated by Rev. Samuel K. Hicks. The family will receive friends at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro on Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 6-8:00 pm and other times at the home of her son Yogi Barker. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro. The family would like to express our gratitude to the Hospice of Randolph County for the excellent care they gave to her.
