Gladys Ruth Hurley Scott, age 86, of Asheboro died Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Randolph Hospice House.
Mrs. Scott was a born May 25, 1927 in Randolph County to Randall and Martha Tero Hurley. She was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church and retired from Randolph Hospital. She loved the outdoors and reading poetry. Her favorite hobbies were basket weaving and raising her dogs. Mrs. Scott was the widow of Rev. Graham Scott and was also preceded in death by her brothers, Arthur, J. T. and Eugene Hurley, Ted Honney and sisters, Melvia Hurley, Kathleen Beane, Onnie Callicutt and infant sister Tula Hurley.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet Hohl of Asheboro; son, Benjamin "Ben" Scott and wife Martha of Asheboro; grandchildren, John Wilkerson of Graham, Tyler Hohl and wife Amanda of Wake Forest; step grandchildren, Michael Bass, Emily Mason; great granddaughter, Corah Wilkerson; step great grandchildren, Hannah, Caleb and Colby Bass, Ethan Mason; sisters, Maxilee Callicutt and Doris Shaw both of Asheboro; brothers, Dempsey Hurley of Wilmington, David Hurley of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 22, 2013 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. A private graveside service will be held.
