Gladys "Daisy" Foster Mathis, 93, of 1813 Zoo Parkway went home to be with her Lord and Savior 12-27-2010. A native of Randolph county, she was a fascinating historian. Her knowledge of family history was intriguing to relatives. She was an excellent cook and welcomed everyone to her table. In the 60's Ms. Mathis was employed as a supervisor at B. B. Walker. She became co-owner of South End Curb market in the 70's, and in the 80's, Floyd's restaurant in Seagrove. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling.
Survived by son, Daniel T. Stalker of Asheboro; daughters, Patti S. Eakes of Sanford, Jane S. Connor of Asheboro, Susan S. Cranford of Asheboro; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 2 nieces; 1 nephew; 3 great nephews, and 1 great niece. Ms. Mathis was preceded in death by her son, Tony E. Ewing; parents, Thomas and Emmer Foster, 1 sister, and 5 brothers.
Ms. Mathis was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her benevolent and jovial disposition will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday December 29, 2010 at 4:00 pm with the Rev. Joe Conley and Rev. Charles Moses officiating. Eulogy to be given by Erin C. Neal. Burial will be in Asheboro City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 2:30 until 3:30 pm at Pugh Funeral Home.
