Gladys Marie Henley

Gladys Marie Cagle Henley, age 84, of Asheboro died Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Cross Road Retirement Community.

Mrs. Henley was born April 26, 1933 in Randolph County to Murdo and Ola Cagle.

She was a member of Hopewell Friends Meeting and had a strong love for her church and church family. Mrs. Henley was an avid reader, excellent seamstress and enjoyed gardening. She also loved cooking, especially persimmon pudding and macaroni casserole. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Henley was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Henley, Jr., daughter, Roberta Cooper, brothers, John, M.S. Cagle, Jr., Craig and Grady and sisters, Verda Southard and Shirley Fishel.

She is survived by sons, Ricky Henley and wife Karen of Asheboro, Ronald Henley and wife Janean of Seagrove; daughter, Edna H. Connor and husband Donald of Asheboro; grandchildren, Doug Connor and wife Paula, Christine Glover and husband Ray, Travis Henley, Hannah Yeaman and husband Chase, Justin Cooper and wife Tiffany, Shannon Starks and husband Tim; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, James Cagle and wife Emily of Asheboro, Carl Cagle and wife Marie of New Iberia, LA.

The family will receive friends Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Hopewell Friends Meeting, 2244 Hopewell Friends Road, Asheboro with Rev. Ricky Sessoms officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
