Gilbert William Overman

Gilbert William Overman, age 78, of 920 Sequoia Ave., Asheboro died Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Auler officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.Mr. Overman was a native of Randolph County, a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxillary, Flotilla #95. He was retired from Union Carbide after 35 years of service. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Giles McKinley Overman and Hazel Williams Overman, and his sister, Imogene Paisley Swensen. He is survived by his sons, Eddie Overman and his wife Linda of Asheboro, NC; Andy Overman of Seagrove, NC; grandchildren, Krystle Saunders of Asheboro, NC; Michelle Walker and her husband Chad of Asheboro, NC; 4 great grandchildren; 1 step granddaughter; 2 step great grandchildren; brother, Wayne "Bud" Overman and his wife Annie of Asheboro, NC; sister, Louise Craven of Asheboro, NC.The family will receive friends on Friday, November 27, 2009 from 6 to 8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O.
