Geraldine Small "Gerri" Sumner, age 68, of 1000 N. Park Drive, Asheboro died Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 4:00 PM at Forest Park Baptist Church, 132 Gum St., Randleman, NC with Pastor Jon Ferguson and Pastor Rusty Small officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park.Mrs. Sumner was a native of Randolph County, was the owner of Gerri's Beauty Shop, and was an active member of Forest Park Baptist Church. Gerri was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn V. and Sadie Black Small, brothers, Dolan Small and Ralph Small, and sister, Mary Lou Briles. Gerri enjoyed spending time with her friends and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Dwight Kenneth Sumner of the home; sons, Chris Sumner and his wife Kim of Asheboro, NC, Eric Sumner and his wife Anita of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Zach Schwarz, Gregory Moore, Maxx Sumner, and Emily Sumner; great granddaughter, Clara Moore; sister, Pat Walker and her husband Bobby of Randleman, NC; brother, Jerry Small and his wife Donna of Appomattox, VA; many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.The family will receive friends Tuesday from 3:00-4:00 pm at the church.
