Geraldine Powers Cheek

Geraldine Powers Cheek, age 77, formerly of Avondale Rd., Asheboro died Sunday, November 16, 2008 at Universal Health Care Of Ramseur. Mrs. Cheek was born August 26, 1931 in Chatham County, NC, the daughter of Lyndon and Annie Ruth Maness Powers. She was a member of Concord United Methodist Church. She was retired owner/operator of Geraldine's Fashions after 20 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd L. Cheek, her daughter, Diane VanEvery, and her parents. She is survived by her son-in-law, Salem VanEvery of Georgetown, SC and her sister, Nell P. Alala of Gastonia, NC. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro with Rev. Robert Kidd officiating.
