George M Hunsucker

George M. Hunsucker, age 74, of Asheboro died Monday, November 6, 2017 at Randolph Hospice House.

Mr. Hunsucker was born July 5, 1943 at Newport News, VA to Robert and Nellie Hunsucker.

He attended UNC-Wilmington where his team won the national championship in baseball. He was a graduate of High Point University and received his Master's in Psychology from NC A&T University. Mr. Hunsucker worked for Montgomery County Schools and Asheboro City Schools during his career. He enjoyed spending time with children, coaching baseball and basketball and was an avid golfer. He was a member of Flag Springs United Methodist Church and lived his life as a Christian with strong ideals, faith and morals. Mr. Hunsucker loved his family and his God. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hunsucker was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Hunsucker.

He is survived by his wife, Allene McPhaul Hunsucker; son, Todd Hunsucker of Asheboro; daughters, Cindy Alala and husband Matt of Fuquay-Varina, Jennifer Ocheltree of Asheboro, grandchildren, Zack Hunsucker, Maitland and Meredith Alala, Nick Ocheltree; sister-in-law, Jane Hunsucker of Asheboro.

The family will receive friends Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 7 - 9 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 10, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Flag Springs United Methodist Church, 5852 Zoo Parkway, Asheboro with Rev. Carol Hunter and Dr. Jody Harrison officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Memorial Gardens.
