George Allen Cockerham, age 96, of Asheboro passed away on August 26, 2024 at Clapp’s Convalescent Nursing Home.
Mr. Cockerham was born in Surry County on October 21, 1927. George served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was the owner/operator of George Cockerham Painting. George was a member of Asheboro First Wesleyan Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Gardner Cockerham, and his mother and stepfather, Maude Cockerham Smith and Theodore Smith. George was a gentleman who never complained. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and watching NASCAR and football on TV.
He is survived by his sons, Mark Cockerham of Asheboro and Michael Cockerham and wife Rena of Coleridge; and granddaughter, Lauren Cockerham.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 30, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 11:00 am at Asheboro First Wesleyan Church, 825 Highland Street in Asheboro with Rev. Mark C. Beane officiating. Interment will follow at Randolph Memorial Park with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
