George Washington Bunting, age 93, of Asheboro died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at his home.
Mr. Bunting was born November 2, 1916 the son of James Alson "Alt" and Pearl McDowell Bunting.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 20, 2009 from Noon-1:45 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will follow Sunday at 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro with Rev. Thomas Cochran and Rev. Claudie Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
Mr. Bunting was a native of Randolph County and retired from GE of Asheboro. He served in the Medical Group of the Army Air Corps in the Japanese Theater (Iwo Jima) during WWII. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Asheboro. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years: Ruth Ardell Lisk Bunting; sister: Lola Pugh; brothers: Jay and Herman Bunting and brothers and sisters-in-law: Lois Bunting, Marilyn Bunting, Thelma Poole, Everett Morris, Olin Dorsett, Rev. Dewitt and Lula Byrd and one nephew: Gregg Bunting.
He is survived by: son and his wife: Doyle W. and Billie Bunting of Zebulon, NC; sisters: Reva Morris and Ina Mae Dorsett of Asheboro, NC; brother: Ray Bunting of Asheboro, NC; sister-in-law: Evelyn Bunting of Asheboro; brothers-in-law: Herbert Pugh of Franklinville, NC and D.C. Poole of Asheboro, NC; and several loving nieces and nephews.
