At 6:25 on Sunday morning, October 28, 2012, the Lord came and reclaimed the spirit, the breath of life, of George Milton Brady and welcomed him into heaven. We know this because of the promise that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. George was born on December 3, 1921 to James Alford and Donna Kivett Brady in Randolph County and was raised at The Christian Home for Children in Elon College, NC. That is where he was educated and where he became an outstanding athlete playing baseball, basketball, and football. George's greatest desire was for a home and family of his own. He married the love of his life, Daphne Coble. A couple of years later they welcomed a baby girl into their lives. He made sure that all needs were met and to the best of his ability that all wants were supplied. When his daughter asked for a dollhouse, he built her a full sized one room house in the back yard where she could play with her dolls. He built go-carts and jumping boards, and the neighborhood children were always welcome to come and play. When his first granddaughter was born, he stopped every afternoon on his way home from work to hold and play with her. When his second granddaughter was born, his joy was doubled. George and Daphne enjoyed annual beach trips, autumn trips to the mountains, and many other pleasure trips. He loved fishing and raising a garden (he was excellent at canning!). He and Daphne were happy just being together. He was above all a man who was devoted to his family. George was predeceased by his parents and brothers John, Clyde, and Clifford, and sisters Bessie Brady, Lillian Connor, and Margaret Hancock. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Daphne Coble Brady of the home, daughter and son-in-law Carole and Jerry McKenzie of Asheboro, granddaughter Holly Davis Haizlip and her husband Tom of Greensboro, and granddaughter Caroline Suzanne Davis of Garner. The funeral will be held at 2:00, Tuesday, October 30, at Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro with visitation one hour prior to the service. Committal will be at Randolph Memorial Park. Our husband, daddy, and grandfather was loved beyond measure and he lives in our hearts. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.
