George H. Bowman, Jr.

George H. Bowman, Jr., age 84, of Crestview Church Rd., Asheboro died Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Randolph Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 4, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Moger officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park. Mr. Bowman was born in Guilford County, NC on May 26, 1926 to George H. Bowman, Sr. and Mary Ratcliffe Bowman. He was a U.S. Army and U.S. Navy veteran and was retired from Union Carbide after 30 years of service. He was a member of Fayetteville Street Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Hess, Ollie York, Mazie McMillian, and Iva Hill. George was an avid Bible reader, enjoyed the outdoors and camping, and loved woodworking. He was a wonderful and loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Wilmoth Smith Bowman; son, George H. Bowman III and his wife Elaine of Ramseur, NC; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 3, 2010 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
