Geneva Gray

Geneva Shaver Gray, age 95, of 4882 Nelson Park Road, Sophia died Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro. A Graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 11:00 AM in Old Union United Methodist Church Cemetery, Sophia with Rev. Barry Wall officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 11, 2010 immediately following the funeral service in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. Gray was born April 24, 1915 the daughter of John B. and Ivora Williams Shaver. Ms. Gray was a native of Stanly County and was retired from Laughlin Hosiery Mill after 55 years of service. She was a member of Old Union United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by: her husband: Thad Gray, son: Thad Gray, Jr.; brothers: Paul Shaver and Horace Shaver; and sister: Edna S. Mashburn. She is survived by: daughter and her husband, Jannette and Morris Rice of Sophia, NC; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and two sisters: Gladys Wayne and Mozelle Smith both of High Point, NC.
