Gene Hoover

Charles Eugene "Gene" Hoover, age 71, of 904 Tower Rd., Troy died Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.Mr. Hoover was born September 23, 1938 in Asheboro, NC, the son of Charles C and Lillie (Hamilton) Hoover. He was a member of Lomax Memorial Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of Collins & Aikman Corp. and was currently employed with McRae Industries, Footwear Division. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jones Hoover. He is survived by three daughters: Barbara Burns, Ann Mabe, both of Troy, Carrie Coble of Randleman; two sons: Gary Hoover of Asheboro, Jay Dee Saunders of Candor; one sister: Linda Tucker of Troy; one brother: Kermit Hoover of Troy; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy; other times at the home. Funeral services will be Friday at 2:00 pm at Lomax Memorial Baptist Church, Correll Rd, Troy with Rev. Chip Bryant and Rev. Brian Hoover officiating.
