Gene Crawford

Raymond Eugene "Gene" Crawford, age 71, of 2378 Glade Rd., Asheboro died Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. The funeral service will held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Cross Road Baptist Church, 1566 Old Cox Road, Asheboro with Pastor Johnny R. Henderson and Rev. Greg Arnold officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Thomasville. Mr. Crawford was a native of Wayne County, NC, was a 1957 graduate of Seven Springs High School and was a member of the National Guard. Gene was a builder, formerly owned the screen printing company Screen Magic, and formerly owned the sporting goods store, Outdoor Sports. He was a member of Cross Road Baptist Church, where he was a member of Stan Haywood's Sunday School class and enjoyed local missions work with the church. Gene enjoyed going to the YMCA where he had many friends and enjoyed flea markets. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Janice Hill. He is survived by his wife, Eula Grady Crawford; daughter, Terri Kirkland of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Jordan Hill; Logan Kirkland, and Gracie Kirkland; sister, Doris Forehand and her husband Charles of Pikeville, NC. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00-2:00 PM at the church and other times at his home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cross Road Baptist Church, 1566 Old Cox Road, Asheboro, NC 27205. Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro is in charge of arrangements
