Gary Steven "Dude" Salley, age 62, of 3622 Old Cedar Falls Rd., Randleman died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, March 13,2009 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
Mr. Salley was a native of Asheboro, was a U.S. Army veteran, and was of the Baptist faith. He was self employed as owner of the Gary Salley Hauling Company. Gary was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Steven Salley, his parents, Roy Edward and Margaret Louise Price Salley, and his brother, Tommy Salley. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and adopted father to many. Dude loved tractors and hot rods, loved to restore classic cars, and loved pocketwatches. He had many special friends and adored his animals, Muss, Smokey, and Lucy.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Highfill Salley of the home; daughter, Vickie Salley Whittington and her husband Harry J. Whittington, Jr. of Randleman, NC; grandson, Matt Whittington of Randleman, NC; sisters, Rita "Susie" Ingram and her husband Milton Ingram of Ramseur, NC; Gina Anwar and her husband Amre Anwar of Asheboro, NC; brother, Larry "Rickey" Salley and his wife Teresa Salley of Asheboro, NC; many special nieces and nephews.
