Asheboro - Gary Wayne Garner, 63, of Asheboro, passed away at his home on Friday, July 3rd, 2020 surrounded by his family after a brave battle with cancer.
Gary was born July 10th, 1956 in Asheboro to Donald "Blease" Garner and Virginia Garner, who preceded him in death.
Gary was a native of Asheboro and graduated from Asheboro High School in 1974. He was a co-owner of Garner Brothers' Pawn Shop for 50 plus years, where many of his customers were considered family. Gary was a jokester and never met a stranger. His family was his passion, and he could often be found in the stands cheering them on or visiting with his children and grandchildren.
Gary will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years: Terri Garner of the home; son: Jonathan Garner and his wife Tiffany of Randleman, son: Wayne Garner of the home; daughter: Ginny Vondra and her husband Mike of Gibsonville; son: Jacob Garner and wife Brooke of Apex; 9 grandchildren: Treven Garner, Kallie Garner, Dallas Lambert, Kolby Garner, Makayla Garner, Maci Garner, Cayley Garner, Brayden and Hailey Vondra; brother: Donald Garner and wife Judy Marcouiller of Minneapolis, MN; sister: Sylvia Hicks and husband Larry of Staley and brother: Keith Garner and wife Karen of Asheboro.
Mr. Garner will lie in state, Wednesday, July 8th, 2020 from 1:00 - 5:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 S. Main St., Randleman, NC.
Due to the Coronavirus restrictions, a private service will be held. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park.
