Furman Ray Greene, age 78, of Asheboro died Friday, January 27, 2017 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
Mr. Greene was born in Carthage on October 23, 1938 to Lloyd and Martha McCaskill Green. He was a member of West Asheboro Baptist Church where he was a deacon. Furman was the owner/operator of Greene's Janitorial Service. In addition to his parents, Furman was preceded in death by his son, Micheal Greene. Furman dated his wife his entire life and they were married for 58 years. He loved his wife, his church, and Asheboro. Furman taught his children the importance of hard work and business ethics and his family was very important to him. He was quick witted and loved life, fishing, and travel.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle Shearin Greene; daughter, Wendy Greene Trogdon and former husband James Paul Trogdon III of Asheboro; sons, F. Ray Greene, Jr. and wife Dawn of Asheboro, R. Todd Greene and wife Jenna of Asheboro, Troy Greene and wife Crystal of Asheboro, Dustin Greene and wife Bianca of Asheboro; daughter-in-law, Sherry Greene of Asheboro; 17 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Jerry T. Greene and wife Muriel of Chapel Hill; and sister, Frances Greene Inman and husband John of Troy.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 29, 2017 from 5:00-9:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 30, 2017 at 3:30 PM at West Asheboro Baptist Church, 831 Uwharrie Street, Asheboro with Rev. Samuel K. Hicks officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Memorial Gardens.
