Frederick Eugene Turner

Frederick Eugene "Gene" Turner, age 69, Asheboro, died Saturday, August 27, 2016 at High Point Regional Hospital in High Point. Gene was born in Robeson County, NC and attended Asheboro High School. He retired as a Captain of the Asheboro Fire Department after 26 years of service. He loved to hunt and fish, especially traveling to the Outer Banks. He also enjoyed cooking, but most of all, he loved being a grandfather to his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susan Hicks Turner, Daughter, Missy and her husband, Kevin Wright of Seagrove, NC, Son, Gene, Jr. and his wife, Sherry Turner of Asheboro, Grandchildren, Jacob Hogan, Justin Turner, Marli Hogan, Destini Luck, Carissa and her husband, Ryan Skipper, Nine great grandchildren, Mother, Louetta Turner, Half brother, Sam and his wife, Oly Turner of Colorado Springs, CO, Half Sister, Crystal and her husband, Bo Hughes of Asheboro. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 30, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Mason officiating.Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
