John Frederick "Freddy" Watson, of Asheboro died Friday, January 7, 2011 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.
He was a native of the Plantersville area of Lunenberg, County, VA and had lived in Randolph County, NC since the age of 16. He worked for Jordan Sheet Metal and Air for thirty-seven years where his work was valued for its quality. He attended Victoria High School in Virginia. Freddy had a huge love of animals, and NASCAR racing and liked nothing better than to tease anyone he met. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War with the 9th Division infantry in the Mekong Delta in 1970. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Asheboro.
He is survived by his Wife: Sarah Cox Watson of the home; Son: Neil Ryan Watson of Greensboro, NC; Daughter: Julianna Blair Watson of Winston-Salem, NC; Mother: Nancy Owens Watson of South Boston, VA; Brothers: Michael Watson of Asheboro, NC and Conrad Watson of Daleville, VA; Sisters: Audrey Wood of Powhatan, VA and Carolyn Ward of Drakes Branch, VA.
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 9, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and other times at the home. The funeral will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church, 420 West Walker Ave., Asheboro with Rev. Brian Gawf and Rev. Russ Ward officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Memorial Gardens with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
