Fred Walker

Frederick Franklin "Fred" Walker, age 79, of 373 Independence Dr. in Asheboro died Saturday, May 17, 2008 at his home. Mr. Walker was born November 12, 1928 in Ellerbe, NC the son of Benjamin Woodson and Elizabeth Stewart Walker. Mr. Walker was a native of Richmond County, NC, a U.S. Navy Veteran and former long time owner/operator of Center Barber Shop in North Asheboro. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Alta Spencer Walker. He is survived by daughters: Lynn Smith of Gantt, AL and Dicey Lee Walker of Asheboro; sons: Stuart Walker and his wife Beth of Raleigh and Scott Walker of Asheboro; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 21, 2008 from 10:00 - 10:45 AM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 following the visitation in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Samuel K. Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park in Asheboro. Memorials may be made to West Asheboro Baptist Church/building fund, 831 Uwharrie St., Asheboro, NC 27203.
