Fred Joseph Richardson

Fred Joseph Richardson, age 91, of Sophia died Monday, October 15, 2012 at Woodland Hill Care & Rehabilitation. Mr. Richardson was a native of Randolph County and was employed with the hosiery industry for over 40 years. He retired as a fixer from Nantucket Hosiery after 25 years of service. Mr. Richardson was dedicated to South Plainfield Friends Meeting where he attended for over 60 years. He enjoyed farming, fox hunting and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was loved by all that knew him. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Margaret Hooker Richardson; sons, Larry J. Richardson and his wife Cathie of Sophia, Gary Richardson and his wife Karen of Sophia; 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren The family will receive friends Thursday, October 18, 2012 from 11:30-1:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 pm at South Plainfield Friends Meeting, 4033 Plainfield Road, Sophia with Hugh C. Spaulding officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
