Frankie Lee Shirley, age 68, of Asheboro died Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the Randolph Hospice House.
Mr. Shirley was born in Randolph County on March 8, 1947 to Frank and Ethel Shirley. Frankie served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed with Wells Hosiery and attended First Wesleyan Church of Asheboro. In addition to his parents, Frankie was preceded in death by his brothers Oliver, Walter, and Bobby, and nephew Michael. Frankie was a former Scout Master and was a world class BBQ chef.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Saylor Shirley; sons, Chad Shirley and wife Kathy and Adam Shirley; grandchildren, Kristen Shirley and Cameron Shirley; nieces, Deanna Stevens, Paige Williams, Ashley Van-Hoesen; and nephew, Matthew Saylor; and many grand nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard and with Pastor Elizabeth Bentley and Rev. Mark C. Beane officiating.
