Boyd Franklin Miller, age 81, of Asheboro died Monday, January 2, 2017.
Mr. Miller was born December 8, 1935 in Asheboro to George Thomas and Viola Mae Williams Miller. He served with the NC National Guard and the US Coast Guard. Mr. Miller, along with his wife, Gwendolyn, owned and operated Miller Engraving. He had also been a salesman for Bost Neckware and was previously employed with BB Walker as the personnel director. He had sold insurance for Blue Cross Blue Shield, and had been a housing inspector for Housing and Urban Development. Mr. Miller was a longtime High School football and baseball umpire throughout North Carolina. In addition to his parents, Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn Welborn Miller, son, Kirk T. Miller and daughter, Nickie Luann Miller.
He is survived by his sons, Robert F Miller of Asheboro, Eric Miller and wife Tiffany of Asheboro; 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; brother: William G. Miller and wife Kathy of Randleman; cousin, Norma Cox; and nephew Danny Miller and wife Kathy of Raleigh.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 6th at 2:00 PM in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Spencer officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
