Frances Wingate Reid

Frances Wingate Reid, age 101, of North Pointe Assisted Living, Randleman, died Monday, September 9, 2013 at the Randolph Hospice House. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 13, 2013 at 11:00 am at Balfour Baptist Church, 1644 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro with Rev. Kenneth L. Reaves and Dr. Bobby Blanton officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park. Mrs. Reid was born in Lincoln County on September 14, 1911 to Ben and Minnie Long Wingate. She and was a faithful member of Balfour Baptist Church for over 60 years and a friend to all. Frances enjoyed gardening, especially roses, and canning the vegetables from her garden. She treasured spending time with her immediate family, especially her beloved granddaughter, her extended family of nieces and nephews, and her adopted family-the caregivers and residents of North Pointe. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Theodore Reid, four brothers, and five sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Reid of Pittsboro; granddaughter, Kate Reid Stroup and her husband Matt Berger of New York, NY; and great grandchildren, Max Stroup Berger and Evelyn Stroup Berger. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 12, 2013 from 7:00-9:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro.
