Frances Dickens Poole, age 91, of Troy died Saturday, June 17, 2017 at her home.
Mrs. Poole was born April 11, 1926 in Montgomery Co. to the late Edward Earl and Willie (Hicks) Dickens.
Frances was married to her husband Easter Poole in 1953 and they traveled a great deal while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. She was a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church, being baptized in 1944, followed by 72 years of service. This service included Nursery department worker, Assistant Church Treasurer, Stewardship Committee, and Publicity Committee. She was a prior employee of Jefferson Life and a retired Librarian of the Montgomery County Library System. She was a child of the Depression who saved everything. She enjoyed reading, painting, crafts, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Easter, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
She is survived by one son: Earle Poole and wife, Evalane of Troy, NC; Granddaughters, Meredith and Monica Poole of Troy, NC; special caregivers, Jessie Brown of Seagrove, and Crystal Hurley of Troy.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 23, 2017 from 9:30am - 10:30am at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy, NC, and at other times at the home of Earle & Evalane Poole. A graveside service will be Friday at 11:00 am at Laurel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 1569 Troy-Candor Rd., Candor, with Rev. Wayne VunCannon officiating.
