Frances Blake Pigford

Frances Blake Pigford, age 94, of Troy died Thursday, June 6, 2019 at FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care, Pinehurst, NC.

Mrs. Pigford was born December 2, 1924 in Montgomery County, NC the daughter of the late James Frank Blake and the late Lola Merritt Blake.

Frances worked as an Optometrist Assistant for a local Optometrist for 40 years before retiring. She was a loving, caring woman who loved her church, Love Joy United Methodist Church, of which she was a lifelong member. She loved making Cathedral window quilts. She enjoyed traveling, and family time, especially with her sisters. Frances was loved by all who met her.

She is survived by three sons: Boyce Pigford and wife Sharon of Troy, NC, Benny Pigford and wife Linda of Troy, NC and Lenny Pigford and wife Patricia of Mt. Gilead, NC; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; She was preceded in death by her husband, Manley "Tommy" Pigford and siblings Ivy Blake, Mary Belle Atkins, Ora Atkins, Raymond Blake, Ruby Gillis, and Rachael Vuncannon.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 2:15 PM at Love Joy United Methodist Church, 1137 Substation Rd., Troy, NC followed by the funeral service at 2:30 PM with the Rev. Ron Scott officiating. Burial will be in Love Joy United Methodist Church Cemetery. At other times, the family will be at the home of Benny and Linda Pigford.
