Florence Mason Lucas, age 99, of Asheboro passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home.
Florence was a loving mother and grandmother, known as Granny Flo. She retired from General Electric and was a long time member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, doing for others, growing beautiful petunias on her front porch. Most of all, Florence loved her family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lucas was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Tracy George Lucas, Sr, brothers, James Mason and Robert Mason, sisters, Mattie Mason Burke, Juanita Mason Jessup, Ada Mason McCrary, and Rachel Mason Miller.
She is survived by her son, Tracy George Lucas, Jr. of Asheboro; daughter, Barbara Lucas Lassiter of Asheboro; grandsons, Derek Ridge of Colorado and Darin Ridge of Asheboro; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Evan and Averi Ridge all of Asheboro; sister, Ruth Mason Bray of Asheboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Lucas will lie in state from 9:00 am-1:00 pm on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Mason officiating. Burial will be held in Oaklawn Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home and Hospice of Randolph for the care and concern given to Florence.
The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, that memorials be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
