Faye Owens Luther

Allie Faye Owens Luther, age 69, of Asheboro died Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro. Mrs. Luther was born November 1, 1944 the daughter of Manley and Bertha Jackson Owens. Faye was a native of Randolph County and was a homemaker. She was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church and was the first woman to receive a heart transplant from Duke Hospital over 27 years ago. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Douglas Walter Luther and her parents-in-law: Walter and Clara Luther of Asheboro, NC. She is survived by her husband of 45 years: Douglas Luther; daughter and her friend, Cheryl Luther Boggs and Brian Goodman of Asheboro, NC; four grandsons: Christian Boggs, Dakota Boggs and Kelly Boggs, Jr. all of Asheboro, NC and Bradley Boggs of Zypherhills, FL; one great granddaughter: Layla Boggs also of Zypherhills, FL; two sisters: Lois Jarvis of Asheboro, NC and Gertie Shoemaker of Greensboro, NC; one brother: Manley Owens of Seagrove, NC. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 6-8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 7811 Pisgah Covered Bridge Rd., Asheboro with Rev. Garland Hall officiating. Burial will follow the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice Of Randolph, P.O.
