Fay Kendall Eakin, Jr., age 86, of High Point died Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Shannon Gray Rehabilitation Center in Jamestown.
Mr. Eakin was born on August 31, 1926 in Washington, PA to Leota Rettinger and Fay Kendall Eakin, Sr., who preceded him in death. Fay served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and retired from Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Fourth Presbyterian Church in Washington, PA where he was a deacon and an elder. Mr. Eakin was an aviation enthusiast and his hobbies included model airplanes, painting and wood carving.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Z. Eakin, children, Wesley Fay Eakin and his wife Shelia of Hardinsburg, KY, Jill Eakin DeYoung and her husband Scott of Asheboro, Bruce Kendall Eakin and his wife Karen of Hanover, PA; grandchildren, Jordan, Rebecca, Sarah, Kalie, Brian, Elizabeth; 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; sister, Dolores Eakin Clark of Washington, PA.
A graveside service with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard will be held Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 3:00 PM at New Hope Memorial Gardens, 3448 New Hope Church Road, Asheboro.
