Fairrell Dextil Myrick, age 77, of 1833 Hamlet Place North, Bel Air, MD died Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem, VA. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Bel Air United Methodist Church, Bel Air, MD with Rev. Carol Pazdersky and Rev. Barry Hidey officiating. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church Cemetery, 445 Mt. Zion Church Road, Seagrove, NC with Rev. Andy Lambert officiating and with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Mr. Myrick was born in Moore County, NC on March 3, 1934 to Lindsay Franklin and Rona Estelle Hancock Myrick. Fairrell served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a graduate of High Point University. He was a member of Bel Air United Methodist Church in Bel Air, MD. He retired as the Regional Claims Manager for Travelers Insurance Companies after 32 years of service and as Vice President of Claims for AON Risk Services, Inc. of Maryland after 11 years of service. In addition to his parents, Fairrell was preceded in death by his brother Robert Myrick. He is survived by his wife, Linda Hutchins Myrick of the home; son, David Myrick and his wife Kim of Bel Air, MD; daughter, Melinda Myrick Duarte and her husband John of Superior, CO; grandchildren, Erin Conroy, Brynn Conroy, Katherine Myrick, and Samuel Myrick; and sister, Barbara Rosende and her husband Frank of North Myrtle Beach, SC. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Bel Air United Methodist Church, 21 Linwood Avenue, Bel Air, MD 21014 for the Lightner Library Fund or the Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church Building Fund, 445 Mt. Zion Church Road, Seagrove, NC 27341.
