Evelyn Cooper Keeling, age 85, of Southmont Dr., Asheboro died Friday, October 9, 2009 at her residence,.Mrs. Keeling was a native of Randolph County. As a teenager she worked at Eagle's nickel-dime store, then during World War II at Sun Spun making parachutes. For most of her life she worked at Union Carbide, retiring in 1982 after 32 years of service. She was a member and attended Pisgah United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Keeling; son, Joseph Anthony Keeling; father, Clyde Cooper; mother, Essie Cooper; and sister, Erma Lee Cooper.Mrs. Keeling enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved the friendship of everyone and was known as a practical jokerShe is survived by one daughter: Shirley Anderson and her husband Larry E. Anderson of Asheboro, NC and several nieces & nephews.The family will receive friends Sunday, October 11th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be Monday, October 12th at 3:00 PM at Pisgah United Methodist Church, 5594 Pisgah Covered Bridge Rd., Asheboro with Rev. Robert E. Dowling officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery.The family wishes to express their thanks to Community Health and Hospice, and their nurses and CNA's who were so kind to her.
