Eugene Batten

Jesse Eugene Batten, age 66, of 273 Holly Hills Dr., Troy died Sunday, February 17, 2008 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Mr. Batten was born April 10, 1941 at Troy, NC, the son of Jesse Branson and Edna (Roberts) Batten of Shiloh Rd., Troy. He was a member of First Wesleyan Church of Troy and a former employee of Alandale Knitting Co. He worked for several years at Battens Gulf Station and operated Troy Gulf Service Station also. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Betty Jean Davis Batten of the home; one son: Rodney Eugene Batten and wife, Jessica of Troy; one sister: Sharon B. Riddick of Fuquay Varina; one brother: Larry Richard Batten of Rock Hill, SC; granddaughter, Caitlin Marie Batten and grandson, Jordan Rodney Batten, both of Mt. Gilead. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Troy; other times at the home of son, Rodney Batten of 340 Correll Rd., Troy. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, Hwy 109N, Troy, with Rev. William Saunders officiating. Burial will be in McRae Family Cemetery, Pee Dee Rd, Mt.
