Ethel Monroe

Ethel Caviness Monroe, age 90, of 739 Graceland Dr., Asheboro died Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at her home. Mrs. Monroe was born August 1, 1921 in Pitt County to Cicero and Carrie Roberts Caviness. She was retired from Randolph Hospital as a registered nurse and was a member of Browers Chapel United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Monroe was preceded in death by her husband James A. Monroe and daughter Becky Bowman. She is survived by her daughters, Jean Graham and her husband Mark of Asheboro, Dean Kearns and her husband John of Asheboro; grandchildren, Sandy, John and Brian Kearns, Amy and Josh Graham, James, Daniel and Derrick Bowman; great grandchildren, Aticus Bowman, Keegan, Easton and Paxton Kearns; brother, Paul Caviness of Portsmouth, VA; son-in-law Vernon Bowman of Asheboro. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 6 to 8:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, other times at her home. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 1, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Browers Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. David Spaulding and Rev. Brent Tysinger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
