Ethel Kivette Brown, age 92, of 330 W. Presnell St., Asheboro died Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Universal Health Care of Ramseur. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 10, 2011 from 10:00-11:00 AM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and other times at the home of her daughter Starr Ayers, 2559 Mountain Lake Rd., Asheboro. The funeral services will follow on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John S. Rogers and Rev. Coy Lee Haywood officiating. The burial will be on Saturday at 3:30 PM in the Adcocks Cemetery in Hope Mills, NC. Mrs. Brown was born in Hope Mills, NC on February 25, 1919 to Henry Jackson Kivett and Mary Kate Gardner Kivett. She was a homemaker and was a member of First Baptist Church. Ethel enjoyed reading, floral arranging, gardening, and writing poetry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband W. Douglas Brown, sisters, Katherine Elizabeth Samons Kivett and Marion Lillian Kivette, and half brothers and sisters, James Anderson Kivette, Gertrude Kivette Maples, Edward Clark Kivette, Mary Ann Kivette Langley, Lottie Kivette Scott, and Henry Jackson Kivette, Jr. She is survived by her daughters, April Riley of Gibsonville, NC and Starr Ayers and her husband Mike of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Jennifer Ayers of Myrtle Beach, SC, Ashley Ayers of Asheboro, NC, and Laura Wilson and her husband Wayne of Mebane, NC; great grandchildren, Isaac Wilson and Holden Wilson; nieces, Dolores Samons Harvell of Rockledge, FL and Winifred Maples Weatherly of Hamlet, NC. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the nurses and staff at Universal Health Care of Ramseur for their excellent and loving care of their mother. Memorials may be made to the Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina, P.O. Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27361-0338.
