Estelle Wright Cox, a loving wife and wonderful mother, of 4919 Seagrove Plank Rd., Asheboro died Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Hospice Home At High Point. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 22, 2009 at 3:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Marsh officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.Mrs. Cox was born August 20, 1938 in Randolph County. She was a gifted musician and had played at Brower's Chapel United Methodist Church, Grace United Methodist Church, New Zion and Hunt's Plankroad Chapel. Mrs. Cox was co-owner of Cox's Grocery for 50 years and was known for her fried apple pies and her Christmas treat bags. She was an outstanding cook, lived a Christian life and was an example to all.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne A. Cox; daughters, Teresa Fortney and her husband Brad of Brown Summit, Donna Cox of Randleman; son, Anthony Cox of Washington, NC; brothers, Howard Wright and his wife Carol, Hubert Wright and his wife Margie, Boyd Wright and his wife Margaret all of Asheboro; sisters, Alice Richardson of Asheboro, Gladys Kinney and her husband Alvin of Asheboro; grandchildren, Christie Robbins and her husband David, Mallory Cox, Justin Cox, Rachel Fortney, Shelby Fortney, great grandchildren, Katelyn Robbins, Molly Robbins, Dante Dyches-Chandler, Shree Dyches-Chandler.The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
