Estelle Poole “Memaw” Branson, age 88, of Asheboro passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018 at her home.
Mrs. Branson was born in Lee County, NC on June 17, 1929 to George and Edith Cole Poole. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chet Branson, son, Craig Branson, and special friend, Wilburn Cranford. Memaw, along with her husband Chet, founded and operated Clothes Wearhouse for many years. She was a longtime attendee of Rushwood Church. Memaw was very active in fundraising for Relay for Life. Memaw was born to be a mother, nurturing her family as well as many other extended family. She was the world's best cook.
She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda B. Zejda and husband Michael of High Point and Christy McKenzie and husband Larry of Asheboro; grandchildren, Kelly Lashley, Carrie Coleman, Chad Branson, Saundra Pace, Nicki McKenzie Hill, and Brandon McKenzie; 11 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Tucker of Asheboro; and brother, Jerry Poole of Greensboro.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 4:00 pm at Rushwood Church, 1810 Old Farmer Road in Asheboro with Dr. Brent Tysinger and Rodney Tyler officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
