Ervin Ray Richardson, age 86, of 225 Foster Street, Asheboro, died Friday, October 23, 2009, at his home.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Ave. Asheboro, NC, with Rev. Charles Moses, Rev. Mark C. Beane and Junior Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Ervin was a native of Randolph County and retired from Union Carbide of Asheboro. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII and a member of Foster Street Wesleyan Church where he had served as Sunday School Secretary, board member, greeter and usher. He, along with his wife Lucille, owned Richardson Antiques where he enjoyed refinishing furniture and going to flea markets. He is preceded in death by his parents: Banah and Zellar Richardson; brother: Otis Richardson and half sister: Edith Maness.
Mr. Richardson is survived by his wife: Lucille Shaw Richardson of the home; son and his wife: Gary Richardson and Janet; daughter and her husband: Teresa Tatum and Ronnie; son and his wife: Tim Richardson and Lora all of Asheboro; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sister Bertie Strider of Asheboro; brother and his wife: Winfred Richardson and Christine of Asheboro; brother and his wife: Roger Richardson and Maxine of Troy, NC; sister and her husband: Yvonne Hurley and Charles of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends Monday, October 26, 2009, from 6-8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Community Hospice of Asheboro; particularly to Paula, Tammy and nurses: Angie and Tabitha for their loving care given to Ervin and a very special thank you to Debra, his long-time nurse with Community Hospice, for her friendship and excellent care over many years.
