Ernestine Groce Jessup, age 81, of Randleman died Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
Mrs. Jessup was born April 26, 1935 the daughter of Arthur Ralph and Martha Coltrane Groce.
Ernestine was a native of Randolph County and a member of Midway Wesleyan Church, were she served on many committees including Sunday School Teacher for the children's class. She had worked for Mann's Drug Store for 26 years and Lad & Lassie in Randleman. Ernestine was a gifted artist who especially loved painting landscapes and nature. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, Ernestine is preceded in death by her son, Glenn Jessup, Jr. and her brother Lee Groce.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years: Glenn H. Jessup, Sr. of the home; son: Douglas Jessup (Michelle) of Randleman; grandchildren: Justine Jessup (Mary) of Asheboro, Mallory and Chloe Jessup both of Randleman; great grandchild: Holden Noah Jessup of Asheboro; daughter-in-law: Linda Jessup of Asheboro; sisters: Melinda Boyce of Randleman and Margaret Stewart (David) of Franklinville; brothers: J. D. Groce (Sally) of Randleman and Ralph C. Groce (Leigh Ann) of Climax; sister-in-law: Louise Groce of Randleman.
The family will receive friends Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 6 to 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral service will be held Friday, April 14, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 600 South Main Street, Randleman with Rev. Arnold J. Luther officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
