Erma Gaye Hines of 917 Spero Road, Asheboro died Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Randolph Hospital.
She was born in Marion, Ohio and moved, as an infant, to Bellevue, Ohio, living there until 1962. Erma graduated high school in Bellevue, Ohio and earned a Library Science from the University of Utah. She was formerly the Director of the Lexington, Ohio library and established libraries in Norwalk and Huron, Ohio Montesorri Schools, where she also served on the schools board of trustees. She also established the Adult and Children's Library at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Asheboro, NC. Erma received a Master Gardners Certificate from the NC State Extension Service in Asheboro. She authored a weekly newspaper column. She was a talented and accomplished artist and some of her work toured the USA. Her hobbies, in addition to painting, were gardening, needlepoint, and reading. Erma was preceded in death by her parents, George and Gaye Bodey, and her daughter, Rebecca.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Hines; daughter, Margaret (Peg) Colosimo and her husband Pete of Greensburg, PA; son, Gary Seip and his wife Florise of San Diego, CA; 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Norma Paschal of Siler City, NC, Juanita Didion of Charlottesville, VA; and 6 nieces and nephew.
A memorial services will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 505 Mountain Road, Asheboro with Rev. Dr. Everett Thomas and The Rev. Barbara J. Cooke, Rector officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Parrish Hall at the church.
