- Emory Cecil Bowman, age 83, of Asheboro died Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Universal Health Care of Ramseur in Ramseur, NC.
Mr. Bowman was born December 1, 1932 in Densmore, FL the son of Reitzel Adolph and Georgia Carrie Hancock Bowman.
Mr. Bowman was a native Densmore, FL and a member of Center Cross Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher. Cecil was a veteran of the US Army serving in Korean War. He was retired from Asheboro City Schools as a custodian and enjoyed woodworking, watching baseball and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter: Mary Diane Bowman; grandson: Steven Parker; brothers: Howard Bowman and Arthur Ray Bowman; sister: Dorothy Gray.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Betty Allred Bowman; two daughters: Debbie (Danny) Davis of Seagrove and Marlene (David) Parker of Asheboro; 5 grandchildren: Janice Davis, Robert Davis and Justin Davis all of Seagrove, Kevin (Brittany) Parker and Jenny Parker all of Asheboro; 3 great grandchildren: Karleigh Parker, Kellsie Parker and Kason Parker all of Asheboro; two sisters: Merle (Bob) Veasey of Durham, Lula Mae Bowman of Asheboro; brother: V.C. (Martha) Bowman of Liberty; several nieces and nephews and extended family.
The family will receive friends Monday, May 2, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and other times at the home of Marlene and David Parker, 5293 New Hope Church Road, Asheboro, NC.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Center Cross Baptist Church, 1789 Center Cross Church Rd., Asheboro with Rev. Grant Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
