Emma Atkins Bristow

Emma Atkins Bristow, age 82, of 275 Beaman Road, Troy died Monday, October 4, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Bristow was born September 7, 1928 in Montgomery County, NC, the daughter of James H and Margaret Hill Atkins. She was an active member of Long Hill Baptist Church and a former employee of Capelsie Mills, Inc. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carson Bristow. She is survived by her loving companion, Tom Burchett of Troy; seven children: Diane Beaman and husband, Bud of Troy, Cathy Bristow of Candor, Vicki Greene of Candor, Richard Bristow and wife, Rhonda of Troy, Janet McElreath and husband, Dale of New London, Tina Abernathy and husband, Philip of Albemarle and Tim Bristow of Troy; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister: Ruby Williams and husband, Jim of Troy. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy; other times at the home. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 pm at Long Hill Baptist Church, 637 Capelsie Road, Candor with Pastor Larry Beaver, Pastor Clyde Allen and Phillip Beaman officiating.
