Emma Kateria Boone, age 66, of Asheboro died Saturday, August 6, 2016 at her residence.
Born January 22, 1950 in Asheboro, Kateria was daughter of Paul Junie Boone and Daphne Craven Boone.
Kateria was an LPN nurse for Randolph Hospital until 1974. She then became the first female dispatcher for Sheriff Carl Moore where she worked for 7 years. Kateria returned to nursing in the mid 1980's and retired after completing 44 years in nursing.
She is survived by her aunt, Opal Berryman of Rockingham; uncle, Phillip Boone of Raleigh; cousins, Phyllis (Stan) Lewis, Steve (Sue) Craven all of Asheboro, Kelly Lewis, Kim (Jeff) Gallimore, Chad (Heather) Craven and numerous extended family and friends.
She leaves behind 2 God-Daughters, Jennifer Miller and Jamie Atkins and many, many friends that loved her.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 11, 2016 from 12:30-1:45 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro and following the committal service at the Flying Pig Restaurant.
The funeral service will be Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, with Rev. Michael Klepacki officiating.
Entombment will be in the Randolph Memorial Park Mausoleum followed by a Butterfly Release.

Phyllis and Kateria's whole family want to say a very special "Thank You" to Jodi Terek for her care and love shown to Kateria throughout her entire battle with cancer. Jodi is truly an angel.
