Elsie Hall Waynick McDowell

Elsie Hall Waynick McDowell, age 90, of Asheboro died Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Randolph Hospice House. Mrs. McDowell was born April 18, 1926 in Damascus, OH the daughter of the late Edwin P. and Minnie Lehman Hall. She received her GED when she was in her 60's and was a professional artist. Mrs. McDowell was a member of Science Hill Friends Meeting where she served as a Sunday school teacher and a Deacon. She was also a "Pink Lady" volunteer at Randolph Hospital. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McDowell was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter Waynick and Rev. Dr. Charles McDowell. She is survived by her daughters, Iris Paul and husband Jerry Paul of Greensboro, Patsy Couch and husband Dr. Jon W. Couch of Asheboro, Judy McPherson and husband Larry McPherson of Asheboro, Anna Kindley of Asheboro; son, Roger Waynick and wife Barbara Waynick of Thomasville; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 27, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro. Mrs. McDowell will lie in state at Science Hill Friends Meeting, 2421 Lassiter Mill Road, Asheboro on Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 10:00 until 11:00 am. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am with Rev. Michael Fulp and Rev. Ken McDowell officiating. Burial will be in Science Hill Friends Meeting cemetery.
