Elsie Kerr MacKenzie, age 76, of 2413 Hickory Forest Dr., Asheboro, died Friday, December 10, 2010 at Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 13, 2010 at 11:00 am at Cross Road Baptist Church, 1566 Old Cox Rd., Asheboro, with Pastor Johnny R. Henderson officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 pm at Olivia Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 3363 Olivia Rd., Olivia, NC. Mrs. MacKenzie was a native of Wyandotte, MI, a homemaker and a member of Horseshoe Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Ruth Masten Kerr and brother, Allen Kerr. She was a loving wife of 50 years, a faithful mother of four and a grandmother of seven. Elsie dedicated her life to helping others and serving her Lord. Known for her sweet spirit and beautiful voice, she will be remembered by the many whose lives she touched. She is survived by her husband, Rev. James MacKenzie; daughters, Janet MacKenzie and her husband Lee Limer of Youngsville, Kayly Nall and her husband David of Asheboro, Christy Scheid and her husband Jon of Raleigh; son, Kenneth MacKenzie and his wife Stacie of Asheboro; grandchildren, Joshua and Cassidy Limer of Youngsville, Jacob and Andrew Nall of Asheboro, MacKenzie Scheid of Raleigh, Alex and Carolina MacKenzie of Asheboro; sister, Kathleen Behm of Ecorse, MI and brothers, William Kerr and Marlin Kerr, both of Aberdeen. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 12, 2010 from 6 to 8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Memorials may be made to Our Place Adult Day Care, 714 Farr Street, Asheboro, NC 27203 or Hospice of Randolph County, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204-0009.
